Running with Training Tuesday

Can I make a confession to everyone? I have been slacking SO hard with my running and training. Like, embarrassingly hard. I’m doing other things (kind of) but life has been so crazy hectic lately that I hardly feel like I have time to brush my teeth let alone take 30 minutes to go run around the neighborhood. I know we all get like this, life happens no matter what, but I need a way to hold myself accountable because otherwise, I’ll be in for one rude awakening when I run this 5k come October!

Last night I’d finally had enough: I said screw everything I’ve got going on, I’m doing this! Even if it’s just walking quickly for 30 minutes I’m going to get some sort of running/walking done. And that’s basically what you have to do sometimes. Say screw the excuses and all the other stuff you’ve got going on and just do it (no copyright infringement intended ;).

I decided a while ago that I wanted to complete the runDisney Glass Slipper Challenge because I had something to prove: that I was capable of doing a crazy thing that ends in a medal. I was hardly able to walk very far for quite a long time so this goal is probably a little crazy but hey, once you start you may as well not stop (not applicable to Pringles because if you don’t stop you’ll get a tummyache). This is going to be hard and I’m probably going to want to stop -mostly because I’m lazy and really enjoy my pillows- but I’ve got to get back on track. Plus, look at my awesome Saucony running shoes. If those things can’t motivate me what am I going to do?

That’s where you all come running in!

You cool people are going to be my accountability team (even those who aren’t here reading along). Each month I’ll post a recap of the previous 4 weeks of walking/running (heh)/whatevers and you can even join in if you want! I’m on MyFitnessPal so feel free to add me and let’s get to crackin’!

Comment with your goal on this post and we’ll give each other updates as time goes on. Maybe I’ll even see some of you out there running at the Color Run 5k in October or getting your Glass Slipper in 2016!

Wishing you many miles,

Shantelle

PS – Saucony is coming out with even cuter shoes soon. I don’t rep them (geez, I wish!) but seriously, their shoes are awesome. Give me a sign that says “I <3 Saucony” and I’d wear it.

Shantelle, I walk 2.2 miles every weekday on my treadmill. My lungs can’t handle this kind of humidity, so the treadmill is my fitness buddy!! It is sooooo hard to keep this commitment to myself, but I tell myself every day, “This is the most important thing you have to do today,” and for some reason, that works for me. As the famous line from Princess Bride says, “if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.” LOL So proud of you…you can DO this! I’m cheering you on from the sidelines! xo
